Harbor House Gives Two Scholarships & Issues Challenge
"Send a Child to Computer Camp"

Hartfield, Virginia - July 4, 2001. In today's competitive environment, children need to learn computer and technology skills. Assistive technology is helping to level the playing field for children with disabilities.

Harbor House Law Press provided Computer Camp scholarships to Alex Pratt and Tanika Kimble of Middlesex County.

We challenge businesses and individuals to step up to the plate.

About Computer Camp

At Computer Camp, children will learn about graphics and the technical aspects of different kinds of software.
The children will complete projects in . . .

  • Desktop publishing - Use software to create posters, bookmarks, decals, and T-shirts.
  • Multimedia - Use PowerPoint to create slide shows and multimedia presentations.
  • Computer graphics - Use digital camera and software for computer drawing and graphic arts.
  • Internet skills - Learn Internet skills and search techniques.

Meet Mia Swan, Computer Teacher

Computer Camp is being taught by Mia Swan, the elementary school teacher who received the Technology Teacher of the Year Award from television station WHRO. This award is given to the top technology teacher in the Tidewater region at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.
Mrs. Tammy Lewis will work with Mrs. Swann.

How You Can Help - Sponsor a Child

Computer Camp is self-supporting - it is approved but not funded by the public school system.

Tuition: $100.00

Deadline: Thursday, July 12, 2001

To sponsor a child, please make your check payable to Rappahannock Central Elementary School. On the Memo line, write "Computer Camp Challenge."
