activist Pete Wright to speak at National Autism Rally Washington, DC. April 8, 2000 – Attorney activist Pete Wright will speak at the National Autism Rally on Saturday, April 8. The Rally will be held on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (rain or shine) The Autism Rally is co-sponsored by "Open Your Eyes to Autism" & "Hear Their Silence" (ARK) to increase knowledge and awareness of autism, improve educational and treatment methods, and secure additional funding for research. Speakers include medical researchers, autism specialists, parent activists, and Congressman Dan Burton. On April 6, the U. S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform will hold a day-long hearing on "Autism: Present Challenges, Future Needs -- Why the Increased Rates?" Pete and Pam Wright will be available during the Rally to autograph their book, Wrightslaw: Special Education Law. The Autism Rally is a grassroots event; there is no fee to participate.
